“Retreat Week”

June 23, 2011

This week we’ve been excited to welcome and serve Grace Church of Chapel Hill, who brought their youth ministry to camp this week for summer camp. While our staff has not served in the role of official “counselors” this week, we’ve enjoyed getting to know all the kids through leading activities each afternoon.

This has also been a great week for the COH staff to bond through Bible Study, games, and just plain old “hang out time.” With one week of camp under our belts, this week has been a great opportunity to check-in with one another, evaluate how we’re doing, and get pumped for the rest of the summer!

Some highlights of the week include:

  • Enthusiastically welcoming campers to each meal in the dining hall through song (and sometimes dance…)
  • Getting to know the campers through leading and teaching afternoon activities
  • COH staff bonding time
  • Working on skits and worship music to prepare for the rest of the summer
  • A campfire on the beach Wednesday night with the COH staff – complete with music, dancing, and of course s’mores!
  • The guy staff working with Jerry each morning on facilities projects – you can never get enough “Jerry wisdom!”
  • Staff Bible Study and fellowship!

We are so excited about Session 1, which begins this coming Sunday! We’ll have a full camp, so check back for pictures and updates! It’s going to be a blast!
