Village Baptist – Reflections

June 24, 2010

Wow, is it really already time for the kids to leave? We can honestly say here at Camp Oak Hill that this week has been a BLAST! The only bad part is that it has to end so soon!

We’ve had a great time this week with all the kids. Morning rotations have been a fun time of learning new skills at different activity areas. Activities have included Archery, Riflery, Field, Horses, Gym, Parachute, Climbing, Low Ropes, Boating, and Pool.

During the evenings we’ve enjoyed a POOL PARTY, the annual COUNSELOR HUNT, and a great CLOSING CAMPFIRE to end the week. At the pool party, the kids showed off their limbo and belly-flopping skills, and enjoyed splashing around with their counselors. For counselor hunt, half the counselors hid around camp while the kids went around looking for them. The winning boy and girl cabins got to pie a counselor in the face!

On closing night we held the Ice Cream Blitz Blowout Bonanza Extravaganza Fiesta Gala Party Thing for the boys and girls cabins who won the Cabin Cleanup Contest this week. The winners were the Choctaw (youngest boys) and Catawba (youngest girls) cabins! Congratulations!

If you have a child who was at camp this week, be sure to ask them about the fun songs we learned! And don’t forget the lessons learned in nightly devotions – the most important time of the day!

We’ll be sad to see the kids go on Thursday, but we look forward to Village Baptist joining us again NEXT year for another great week at Camp Oak Hill!
