EPIC – Summer 2010

March 30, 2010

“There’s gotta be more to life than this!”

We’ve all said it before. Whether we’re studying for an exam, watching the clock at work, or simply taking out the garbage, we all desire to be a part of something else – something bigger than ourselves. We want to believe there is something more, that our life has meaning outside of the mundane day to day grind.

It’s a common desire. The writer of Ecclesiastes observes that God has “set eternity in the hearts of men, yet so that man can not fathom what God is doing from beginning to end” (Eccl. 3:11, NIV/NAS).

The truth is, we ARE a part of something bigger – we are a part of the story God is telling throughout creation. What’s more, God desires us to realize and fulfill our role in His story – and offers us a way to do so through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

The theme for summer camp 2010 is “EPIC.”

The word “epic” is defined as “extending beyond the normal or ordinary.” Indeed, God’s story fits this description. It is so great, we cannot even fathom it! What we are sure of is that through living out our lives as a part of God’s story, we have the assurance of salvation and the blessing of a life filled with meaning.

We’ll be exploring these ideas (and more!) this summer at camp, and hope you will join us for what promises to be one of the most “EPIC” summers yet!
